Tips for new CDL truck drivers will help you get prepared before you leave out on your first trip. We have all traveled before and experienced the problem of trying to pack all the necessities in a suitcase and never having enough space for it all. When planning your career as a professional truck driver somehow packing a suitcase for a road trip is probably not a high priority and you never realized how important it can be.

Tips for New CDL Truck Drivers, pack all your personal hygiene item, razor, soap, deodorant, ect...

You never think about when you leave home where the temperature is 70 degrees outside and not realize that your next stop could be in the Rockies where the temperature can drop as low as 20 degrees. You never think about having to pack a few weeks of clothes plus towels, washcloths, pillow, blanket, in addition to all your personal toiletry items and who knows what else. So far so good, right! Then you realize that you have to make room for your laptop computer, i-pod, snacks and more. By now, the one suitcase turns into three suitcases. The list can become endless but somehow you have to get it all packed in the cab of the truck with you.

You never know when inclement weather or a mechanical breakdown will have you stranded on the side of the road in ten buck two. Therefore, you will need to prepare for any situation that may arise. The unexpected can happen with no warning so make sure you have a cell phone, a tool kit, and food. A Survival Kit (canned vegetables – fruits – nuts and/or freeze-dried food). Do not laugh, ask any truck driver that has spent a few days stuck in their truck in the middle of nowhere and they will tell you, “It ain’t no fun”. Be Prepared.
